Bandhej is a generic term used for one of the traditional textiles or fabrics from the States of Rajasthan & Gujarat . It refers to the tie & dye technique that is used in these fabrics . Small strings are tied in predefined places on a white fabric. The fabric is then dyed in deep dark colours . The strings are opened and the fabric is left to dry .What happens is that the colourful fabrics in bright pinks, blues and yellow have non uniform white dots on them . Therefore,that is Bandhej.
