Silk saree shops in Bangalore are very popular as the silk saree is a very sought after garment. Bangalore has the best silk in India. Consequently, women prefer to opt for sarees for special occasions such as weddings, evening parties and religious ceremonies.

The saree definitely helps women of all age groups stand out from the western dresses-clad crowd. After all, nothing beats the grace and glamour of this popular ethnic wear.

Have you come across any fisherwomen in coastal India? Anything peculiar about the way they drape sarees? If you watch closely, you will notice they wear it like a pair of shorts. Yes, the idea is to move around easily while venturing out into the sea. Tribal women, on the other hand, tie sarees high up to their knees as they are required to collect firewood amidst shrubs.

That’s how women in India have been using this traditional wear as a functional garment since a long time ago. Nowadays women tend to mostly opt for easier garments like kurtis, salwar suits, trousers and skirts for rough and tough daily wear.
