This is a central area in this city, named after the British architect Edwin Lutyens. He was responsible for much of the architectural design and buildings of the city when India was part of the British Empire. Besides, Herbert Baker designed the Secretariat Buildings (North and South Block). Additionally, he designed bungalows on the then King George’s Avenue (south of the Secretariats) for high-ranking officials.

Khan Market, near the Lodhi Gardens, is a stylish shopping market. There are bookshops and coffee shops and there is luxury shopping. The South Extension Market is another popular market in South Delhi for bridal wear and jewelry.
The NCR (National Capital Region) which includes Gurgaon and Noida, besides Delhi, has a number of big shopping malls. The Ambience Mall in Gurgaon and the Select City Mall in Delhi are two of the most popular shopping malls. Moreover, the Promenade Mall and the Great India Place Mall are other popular malls in Delhi and Noida, respectively.
