Marks & Spencer at Mantri Square Mall is a large store.

Marks & Spencer (M&S) is a British retail store for garments, shoes, jewellery, beauty products, soft & hard luggage, home & kitchen essentials. They have been in operation since the year 1825.

They have opened their stores in several malls across India. The opening of large malls has facilitated the entry of many international retail chains in India. M&S, H&M, Zara & Burberry are a few of them.

Western Wear Garments

M&S has a great collection of western wear for women. Tops, trousers, leggings, jackets, nightwear and lingerie are available in standard sizes. Jeans, trousers and leggings are particularly worth a look. The range is good and the prices are reasonable.

They also have a vast selection of tops in multiple designs & colours. Full sleeves tops, Hal sleeves tops, party ear tops and tees are all available.

In the winter months they have a good choice of cardigans and jackets. The styles are contemporary. M&S is an international chain and hence the design and styles that they stock are fashionable.

Vijayalaksmi Silks is a trusted name for sarees in Bangalore . Their store on MG Road is several decades old. As you walk into their large store , you will find that there are brides to be and their families selecting bridal wear sarees. The store also has quite a few salesmen who are knowledgeable about the sarees on display . There is a separate section for fabrics , right near the entrance . Benarsi and silk fabrics with zari work are available. Check these pieces if you need to buy fabrics for blouses or to stitch salwar suits .As you walk further in, there is a large section dedicated to Kora silk sarees and Mysore silk sarees. Kora silk is the lighter version of the silk saree from Benares. Kora silk sarees with zari work are modern in design & very expensive . They are typically rolled up on long spindles and not stacked on the racks . They cost upwards of Rs 15000/piece. The Mysore silk saree selection is more traditional in design & colour combination. They cost upwards of Rs 8000/piece Vijalakshmi Silks is however well known for expensive Kanjivaram and Uppada silk saris. These are made inhouse. One can get a Kanjivaram saree starting from Rs5000/piece and going upto Rs 50000/piece . Kanjivaram silk sarees with less expensive zaris and real gold zaris are available in bright colours and in a multitude of designs. They have a good selection of Bangalore silk sarees as well . The texture of the Bangalore silk sarees is different from the Kanjivaram silk sarees . In addition, they have several varieties of cotton sarees from many Indian States. There is a section for ready made blouses as well, where you can buy grand party wear & wedding wear blouses and match them to the saree of your choice. Parking is difficult

Shopping in MG Road Shopping Market in Bangalore would lead you to Prasiddhi Silks . Cotton sarees and Salwar Suits Although it is a small shop , the collection of sarees and salwar suit materials is very good. Cotton sarees with block prints and Kalamkari prints are in the range of Rs 700 to Rs 1000/piece . Silk cotton sarees are in the Rs 2000 + range . Kanjivaram sarees Uppada sarees , Mysore crepe sarees , Kanjivaram silk sarees and Ikaat sarees are their specialities . Mysore silk crepe sarees start from Rs 3500 and go up to Rs 12000 /piece. The price will depend on the quality of the saree as also the zari that is used . Semi formal unstitched salwar suit fabrics in cotton and cotton blends are also available. While the collection is not huge , the selection is good and are modestly priced.

Salwar sets for women and Kurta pyjama sets for men are available. Churidars ,salwars and palazo pants are in stock. There is a separate section for kids clothing. Gift sets Jewellery boxes, candle stands,papier machie lamps, photo frames, simple clocks and wooden boxes are all in stock. They are refreshingly simple in design . HomeLinen Home linen is one of their major selling items. Cotton bed spreads, pillow cases, cushion covers and bolster covers are available.They are made in soft cotton fabrics and in pleasing pastel colours.Coir mats , floor cushions, and coir boxes are available in orange and green colours. Hand Painted Crockery Bright, cheerful, hand painted crockery pieces are very popular. Small platters, serving bowls, soup bowls, tea sets with coordinated trays are very attractive in blue, orange and black . They have innovative designs painted on these products.
