What is the difference between Kundan & Polki

While polki is uncut diamond jewellery, Kundan is layers of cut glass jewellery.

Necklaces, bracelets and earrings are available in all the leading gold & diamond jewellery stores. However, Polki jewellery is much more expensive that Kundan jewellery. In other words, one being real diamonds and Kundan being glass.

Large uncut diamond stones are set on gold foils that is typically painted. The reflection of light on the diamond is important and hence they are carefully set. Rubies and emeralds are added to this type of setting  to add more elegance and appeal.  However,Kundan involves layers of glass painstakingly placed one on top of the other. The reverse side has enamel work on them.

Both the types of jewellery are available imitation jewellery shops as well.
