Phulkari Punjab Government Emporium
Phulkari is a Punjab State Government Emporium in the Dakshinapan Shopping Complex in Kolkata.
These days, while shopping in Kolkata, you can even buy Phulkari dress materials and dupattas. The name ‘Phulkari’ refers to the traditional floral embroidery work that is done by the women of Punjab. What was once a hobby for the rural Punjabi woman, has today taken center stage. It has taken the fashion world by storm and is coveted for its colourful motifs. Apart from these garments, there are a wide range of jutis, (colourful footwear) durries (cotton rugs for the floor), pidhas (small stools), wooden handicrafts and folk toys.
