Sasha- Dokra Art and Jewellery
Sasha has an assortment of products on offer including saris, salwar suits, jewellery and other household products. Hand woven natural fibes, organic cotton and tussar fabric are predominantly used for readymade salwar suits, kurtis and saris. They are available in bright colors with fine Kantha stitch embroidery. (Kantha is a type of embroidery popular in Bangladesh). Another interesting item on display at Sasha is handmade jewellery. You will take an instant liking to the Dokra (alloy of brass, nickel and zinc) handicrafts and jewellery. You can also find hand paintings and handmade camel leather bags.
Do not miss out on the special collection of stoles, pouches, throws and photo frames designed by Dutch designer Carla Peters. The ‘RASA’ range of personal products and herbal teas has a special following. It is a spacious and well laid out shop. Prices at Sasha are on the higher side but the products are value for money.
The price range is wide starting from handmade candles for Rs.45 and small side bags (cotton, hand stitched) for Rs. 350 to expensive artifacts costing over for Rs 50,000 each. Sasha is an original fair trade shop in Kolkata.
