Nehru jacket

Nehru Jackets

It is a short sleeveless jacket with a high neck that is worn by both men and women. Jawaharlal Nehru was the first Prime Minister of India. He attended Harrow and Trinity College. Like his father Mr. Motilal Nehru, he trained to be a barrister. Both men were very fashionable attired. The Sherwani and the achkan were long coats similar to the frock coats worn by Englishmen. In contrast, the Nehru jacket is a long waist coat with a close neck collar which is also known as the mandarin collar.
