Tussar & Banarasi Sarees in Indian Silk House, Kolkata
Indian Silk House was established to promote Indian textiles and fabrics. It was founded in 1926 by Shri Rishabh Chand, who had supported the Non-Cooperation movement against the British. It is hence a pre Independence store. There are many shops in the city, that sell sarees but this particular shop specializes in a great collection of silk sarees. For instance, like South silk from Bangalore and Kanchipuram, Tussar and Banarasi silk from Murshidabad and Bankura.
Another branch of the same shop focuses exclusively in contemporary sarees for its esteemed South Kolkata clientele with interesting varieties of silk sarees embellished with trendy zardozi embroidery and sequins work. They also stock designer salwar kameez sets in silk, cotton, georgette and crepe. Gift accessories like Benarasi stoles, cushion covers and letter holders are also on display.
