Sanskriti sarees in Kolkata
Sanskriti Kolkata began its journey 25+ years ago. Firstly, they focus on traditional fabrics like pure handloom, pure cotton & pure silk & tussar. As a matter of fact, sarees are created with ethnic Indian designs. The designs are done using different types of embroidery – zari booti, kantha stitch and phulkari. Further prints such as block prints are also done on sarees. They also stock salwar suit pieces & Kurtis.
In addition, kantha work on silk saree is the forte. In other words, sarees with reverse kantha stitch patterns are generally very uncommon but these are available in the Sanskriti shop. For example, beautiful hand embroidered sarees are available. Kantha work and batik work on both light & heavy Bangalore silk is available. Alternately, Bishnupuri katan silk is also presented with Kantha embroidery. The embroidery is phenomenal and very neat. The prices are in the Rs 8000-Rs10000/saree range. Typically, the sarees are in bold bright colours with colourful embroidery.
In comparison, the Tussar Kantha sarees are slightly more expensive in the Rs12000/saree price range. Tussar sarees are more elegant & subtle. Rangoli Pallu would mean multi coloured pallu. The sarees come with attached blouses.
Designer is Laila Datta Gupta. They also have blouse stitching facility.
