Anokhi Clothing Store, Jaipur

Anokhi is a 40-year-old company with a chain of shops across India. Their main stores are in Jaipur and Delhi.

Anokhi is a very popular Jaipur shop for ethnic cotton wear dresses and home furnishings.

Block printing in super fine cotton material is their specialty. Anokhi is also known for preserving the traditional printing techniques and creating stylish clothes for men, women & children.

Absolutely light weight tunics, one piece dresses, skirts and tops are the most popular items in this shop . The colorful & flowery prints in a white backdrop make the dresses ideal for the summer and spring seasons. In addition to tunics & skirts, they also stock salwar-kameez, churidars, patialas, dupattas and stoles. The dresses are color coordinated and elegantly displayed in this large shop. The dresses range from Rs. 2,000/piece to about Rs. 3,500/piece.

In addition, to the ethnic dresses and tops, you can also take your pick from a range of colorful bed-linen, curtains, quilts and bags. The quilts and bed spreads are made with similar Jaipur printed super fine cotton. The designs are simple, modern and trendy. The dining table covers and matching table mats in bright colors such as reds and yellows with bright colored prints look very attractive.

They also stock a small collection of jewellery such as earrings, bracelets & chains. Essentially, light weight jewellery to be paired with dresses.

Adjoining this shop is the Anokhi cafe.

In addition, fresh juices, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, pastas and a mouth watering range of cakes make this place very popular. It is indeed a place to retreat to, after the shopping.

Their Arakku coffee and carrot cakes are outstanding. It was difficult to get a place in this cafe. We were informed that the café is occupied from breakfast to early evening.

There are plenty of foreigners who visit this shop, as we noticed on a couple of occasions.

Anokhi museum near the Amber fort in Jaipur showcases the variety of fabrics and the printing techniques used in cloth making by Anokhi.
