The manufacturing facility for Mysore silks was originally set up by the Maharaja of Mysore with looms imported from Switzerland in 1912 . In 1980 ,the manufacturing facility was handed over to the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Ltd.(KSIC). It is a government of Karnataka enterprise.The distinguishing feature of this saris is the usage of pure silk and 100% pure gold zari .KSIC Mysore Silk saris are very popular for their soft ,smooth feel and lustrous texture. The Mysore silk saree or salwar kameez can be worn through the year, whether it is summer or winter. KSIC Mysore Silk saree look very elegant. The products include Silk sarees, Fabric for salwar kameez Shirts Kurtas Silk dhotis and ties Mysore Silk Factory The silk products are manufactured in the factories located in Mysore and in Narasipura. KSIC manufactures silk fabrics from raw silk yarn. Raw mulberry silk is produced in five Indian states, of which Karnataka is one. Mysore silk is hence, very popular in the state.
