Casablanca in Pondicherry
Casablanca is a department store with 3 floors (owned by the couple who created Le Dupleix and The Promenade). Pondicherry shopping has to necessarily include a trip to this store.
The ground floor has a selection of cosmetics and perfumes from international brands on display. The first floor has a wide selection of casual wear garments for women as well as jewellery. Tops, skirts, tees, tunics palazzos and trousers are on display here. Jewellery includes trendy costume jewellery like bracelets, necklaces, earrings and chains.
There is also a whole section for pottery from Auroville. Mugs, tea pots, cups, vases and such other items are all available. Candles, incense, candle stands, are all stocked in another section of the store. However, the best pick in the shop is in the home section on the top floor. The entire floor is dedicated to home furnishings like table cloths, bed spreads, bedcovers, cushion covers, curtains and table mats, all of which are made at Auroville.
Casablanca is also a great place to pick out stylish new leather products such as handbags, belts, briefcases, wallets and suitcases.
They have a good selection of ready to wear men’s clothes and chocolates as well.
There is a small cafe and a pizzeria right in the middle of the store.
