The silk products are manufactured in the factories located in Mysore and in Narasipura. KSIC manufactures silk fabrics from raw silk yarn. Raw mulberry silk is produced in five Indian states, of which Karnataka is one. Mysore silk is hence, very popular in the state. It is a very light and soft fabric as compared to the heavy Kanjivaram silk fabric. Furthermore Mysore silk sarees come in traditional designs and colors. Dark blue, dark green, maroon, pink, violet and mustard yellow are some of the noteworthy colors for Mysore Silk sarees. They also have a contrast color border with zari work. While some of the zari is pure gold zari, some others could have tested zari as well.
As a result, the price of the Mysore silk saree would depend on the quality of the zari that is used in the saree.
Finally due to great demand for Mysore silk fabric, they are available as salwar kameez fabrics as well.
There are also some dupattas and ties that are made with this fabric.
Hence, Bangalore shopping is incomplete without a visit to KSIC.
