About Salonee Silks N Cotton- Fabrics

Exclusive Fabric Store

One would think that with the arrival of the numerous shopping malls in Bangalore, the old shopping places such as Commercial Street & Brigade Road would be practically pedestrian free. But that is not the case. Commercial Street in Bangalore is still a very crowde’d market. However, there are a few shops in Commercial Street that people would still love to visit. Salonee Silks & Cotton is one such shop.

As you walk along the noisy & congested street, jostling for space with other pedestrians, you will chance upon this shop, which is quite prominent. It is a large shop. With stores such as ‘Soch’ which is close by, you would be tempted to think that this store would similar. You will be pleasantly surprise’d. This store stocked with silk cotton sarees and crepe silk sarees and several other varieties of silk sarees including Benarsi silks sarees. The collection was very pleasing and the prices were very attractive.

I was curious and walked into their crowded basement shop. It was like a secret Alladin’s cave, as it was stocke’d with wonderful textiles from all over India. There was ikaat in silk and cotton kalamkari fabrics as were Benarsi fabrics and cotton fabrics. Some were printed while some others were embroidered. They are particularly ideal for stitching your own kurtas & kurtis. The range of available fabrics is astonishing. They had dupattas too. Customers were vying with each other in eying their beautiful dupattas in kalamkari fabrics & Benarsi fabrics. Some of them were completely unqiue pieces. The kalamkari printed dupattas are in the Rs 3000 to Rs 5000/piece price range whereas the Benarsi dupattas with simple prints are Rs 1500/piece.

Ikaat dupattas in striking colours are around Rs. 2000/piece.

If you are shopping in Bangalore for fabrics and dupattas, make sure to visit this shop in Commercial Street.
