Kashmir Government Arts Emporium is famous for its Pashmina shawls, Kashmir silks, willow chairs, Crewel craft (unique Kashmiri embroidery on upholstery and drapery) home decor, papier mache decoratives and walnut furniture. All of this and more is on display at the Jammu and Kashmir Emporium in Baba Kadhak Sing Marg, Connaught Place ,Delhi. Papier mache products include boxes in various colours and shapes, plates, bowls, and a range of decorative items for the table top, walls and windows.
Who can resist the lacquered papier mache balls, bells, crescents and stars in vibrant colours? They are important Christmas Decoration items .Kashmiri naqashi (painting) with natural vegetable and mineral dyes turn waste paper into rare pieces of art.
In addition, the small mattresses called namdas and gabbas (made by felting wool)and sporting chain stitch embroidery are a big attraction. Prices depend on size, design and the percentage of wool in the products.
