Around for nearly half a century, the five-storey Cottage Emporium on Janpath, strives to promote Indian arts and crafts. You will find clothes, jewellery, handicrafts, furniture, linen, handbags, carpets, lacquerware, marble handicrafts and much more.
There is an entire floor devoted to women’s clothing and accessories. And that means ready-made dresses, jackets, shawls, fabric, sarees and a range of bags and purses in jute, silk, cotton and leather.
Sheesham wood products and papier mache decoratives from Kashmir, brass lamps from South India, white marble furniture, puppets and wood craft from Rajasthan are all available. Brass-plated trinkets like bottle openers and key chains, priced at Rs. 150 – Rs. 500 per piece, are popular gifts, while gold and silver-plated bowls and photo frames are priced at Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 4,000 each.
